Identity and Access MANAGEMENT
Guilford College

What is identity & Access Management?
Identity and Access Management refers to the practices and technologies that participate in the creation, maintenance and use-life of a digital identity. With this, the impact of Identity and Access Management to the Guilford College campus affects many facets outside of the Information Technology and Services department and impacts operations across the entire campus. Current IAM practices are responsible for the management of faculty, staff, and student information; access to Guilford College applications and information; and the access of these information’s externally.
Why is IAM Important for Guilford?
For any student, faculty member, staff, or community member; their first impression of IT&S at Guilford begins during the onboarding process and their experience at the login screen. With current IAM practices there is unnecessary redundancies and complex (at times manual) processes that occur during the onboarding process. These redundancies and complex processes impact users in the following areas: Lost User Productivity, Poor User Experience, Unnecessary Administrative Overhead, Campus Security.

How Identity management affects you
From the day you become a member of the Guilford College community to the day you leave and even after there is a digital identity that follows you. From logging in on campus computers to connecting to WiFi or carding in to buildings, this identity follows you everywhere! In practicing industry standard IAM practices we hope to help you better understand your digital Guilford identity and give you back the control you need.
